PROFESSIONAL NATIONAL FOOTBALL LEAGUE ATHLETE

“I now understand the importance of daily mindfulness training because of Becky. She introduced me to the tools I use to ground myself daily by doing activities that increase my vibrations. Whether intentional breathing reps, working through visualization, or body scans, all are essential to my life today. I can't thank Becky enough. The most important thing I've learned from Becky is that there's no perfect way to do it, even when I fail to practice how I need to. Awareness of myself keeps me going and getting back to it.”

“Coach Pape has been critical in my development and maturity as both an athlete and person. She has helped me not only succeed on the course, but have genuine fun regardless of whether I am playing good or bad. I am better at handling difficult situations and adversity on the course and am much more comfortable in competition because of my work with her. I would recommend to any junior who is serious about improving their game to use her services!”

CANCER SURVIVOR

“In navigating acceptance of 4th stage breast cancer and treatment choices, I sought Becky’s support in understanding how my emotional being and self awareness was impacting my health. In other words, I was “losing it.” With her non-judgment zone and guidance, through intentional movement, meditation and self awareness exercises, I recognized myself in relationship to others and my choices. I am now better at self compassion and decision making in my best interest. I love myself without apology and forgive others in the same light.”

These past three years with Coach Pape as a mindfulness coach have helped me tremendously as a baseball player and as a person. I once was a player who dwelled on every mistake that I made, but through the methods that Coach Pape taught to me—self-compassion and grounding exercises—I have been capable of flushing these mistakes. Her mindfulness practices have allowed me to go from an average player that struggled with present moment focus to a two-time, all-conference middle infielder who is going to play college baseball! The biggest thing that has come from the mental exercises is an increase in my ability to perform in the clutch. This past season I have had more clutch hits than I have had in my whole high school career. For this I give credit to my new ability to be focused on the present moment and my mental awareness of the positivity or negativity of my present thoughts. I’ve learned that thoughts manifest themselves into reality which has become really evident this season. I’ve also seen increases in the lengths of time that I am able to focus, which has helped me tremendously on and off the baseball field. Coach Pape is a patient and articulate coach who desires nothing more than success and improvement for her athletes, students, and clients. I can attest to the results.

Before I did any type of mental work when it came to baseball, it was a struggle to keep my cool, leading to my play becoming worse which led to more and more hurt. I struggled at first with the idea of mental coaching and what Coach Pape was offering, but when I started seeing changes in my play and committing to applying what I was learning through her sessions, I began to realize this stuff was legit. Soon it became routine to me. The one tip I took away the most was: “if you wouldn’t say it to a teammate, don’t say it to yourself.” My whole career I had been so hard on myself and it brought me down. But with just one sentence, visualizations, and breathing practices I made myself a better ball player and learned to be in the present and not so hard on myself.

Coach Pape’s mindfulness training has not only brought my mental game to a new level but it opened the doors to a realm of mental action that I did not know existed. I have always searched for a mental edge when it comes to athletics, and mindfulness exposed that edge to me. This edge, however, is driven by love and respect for oneself. But mindfulness also stirred up a love and enjoyment for the game I play that I have not experienced since childhood. The training helped me to understand the connection of my body, mind, and spirt and how these factors affect my outward experience of life and athletics.

PROUD PARENTS

Our son was struggling mentally with his golf game. Negativity, anger, frustration, and not understanding how to deal with his feelings was hurting his golf game and taking away his love for the sport. After working with Becky, he has learned how to deal with all of these emotions and is back to loving the sport. She taught him how to meditate and how to look forward to what is to come and forget about the past. Life lessons that not only work on the golf course, but in school, and life. We highly recommend Becky!

During the time I began MSBR, I was going through some difficult life circumstances.  Due to stress, anxiety and worry, I wasn’t being “the best me” that I could be for my family, my friends, my career and most importantly, myself.

One of the greatest gifts Becky gave me was the ability to quiet my mind.  When worry, anxiety, and hypothetical situations begin to take over, I’ve gained the ability to shut those disruptive thoughts down and focus on my present moment.

At home, it allows me to prioritize my family by being intentionally present and engaged.  At work, I use it to be less reactive in high-stress situations. With my friends, it helps me to be a better listener and to thoroughly enjoy my limited time with them.

In addition to stress-reduction, Becky taught me how to give and receive kindness. Most importantly, to myself.  The self-compassion work was really so refreshing.  When you begin to view the world from kindness, compassion and non-judgmental curiosity, it doesn’t leave much room for negative emotions.

I can’t recommend Becky enough.  I hope you’ll take the chance to learn something new. I know if you do, you will better experience and appreciate the life you’ve been blessed with.
